Perfect for hobbyists, small apiaries, and anyone

Simple Dribble Method — No Vaporiser Required

Varroa is now part of Australian beekeeping life, and every responsible beekeeper needs a treatment plan. But you don’t need expensive vaporiser equipment to do it right. Api-Bioxal® Liquid is the simplest, most accessible way to treat varroa effectively — a ready-to-use oxalic acid solution that you dribble between the frames. No mixing, no equipment, no fuss. Perfect for hobbyists, small apiaries, and anyone who wants proven varroa control without investing in vaporisation gear.

Built on the same proven oxalic acid active ingredient trusted by beekeepers worldwide, Api-Bioxal Liquid delivers over 90% mite knockdown in brood-free colonies — the same effectiveness as the powder form, just in a genuinely beginner-friendly format. APVMA-permitted under PER94609, organic, residue-free, and APVMA-compliant, with zero honey withholding period, meaning you can treat without pulling honey supers. Open the bottle, dribble between the frames, close the hive. Done.

Why Choose Liquid Over Powder?

Both Api-Bioxal Liquid and Powder contain the same APVMA-permitted oxalic acid — the choice comes down to your preferred application method:

  • Choose Liquid if: you have a small number of hives, prefer the simpler dribble method, don’t own a vaporiser, want to skip the mixing step, or are new to varroa treatment.
  • Choose Powder if: you have (or plan to buy) a vaporiser, treat many hives, run a commercial operation, or want the option of BOTH vaporisation and dribble methods.
  • Liquid is simpler: ready-to-use — no mixing with sugar syrup, no measuring, no preparation.
  • Liquid is safer: no exposure to airborne oxalic acid powder during preparation.
  • Liquid is more accessible: no equipment investment, no learning curve — ideal first treatment for new beekeepers.

How Does the Dribble Method Work?

The dribble method is genuinely straightforward and one of the reasons beekeepers love this product:

  • Step 1: Open the hive lid on a still, mild day (ideally 5–15°C ambient temperature)
  • Step 2: Hold the Api-Bioxal Liquid bottle above the hive frames
  • Step 3: Dribble 5 ml directly into each “seam of bees” — the gap between two frames where bees are clustered
  • Step 4: Maximum 50 ml per hive in a single treatment
  • Step 5: Close the hive and let the bees spread the treatment throughout the colony via trophallaxis (mouth-to-mouth food sharing)

That’s it — no mixing, no measuring sugar syrup, no equipment to clean afterwards. The whole process takes about 2–3 minutes per hive, making it perfectly manageable for backyard beekeepers.

When Should I Apply Liquid Treatment?

Like all oxalic acid treatments, Api-Bioxal Liquid works best when your colony has little to no capped brood — because the dribble doesn’t reach mites hidden inside capped brood cells. The best application windows are:

  • Late autumn / early winter: colonies naturally have minimal brood — this is the ideal window for most beekeepers
  • Early spring: treat before brood production ramps up for the new season
  • After a brood break: if you’ve caged the queen for ~21 days, this creates an artificial brood-free window for treatment

Always monitor mite levels first using a sugar shake, alcohol wash, or sticky board, and only treat when counts exceed your IPM threshold. Treating unnecessarily wastes product and accelerates the development of varroa resistance — something every Australian beekeeper should help prevent.

Will It Affect My Honey Supers?

No — and this is a major practical advantage. Api-Bioxal Liquid has zero honey withholding period, which means:

  • Honey supers can remain on the hive during treatment
  • No need to pause honey production
  • Honey already in the supers stays clean and saleable
  • No chemical residues in honey, wax, or comb

Is It Safe to Use Around the Bees?

Yes — when used as directed. Oxalic acid is naturally occurring in many plants (rhubarb leaves, spinach, beetroot greens) and is the same compound bees themselves are evolved to tolerate. The dribble dose is calibrated to be highly toxic to Varroa mites while remaining safe for adult bees, brood, and the queen when applied correctly. You may see some bees acting a bit sluggish for 24–48 hours after treatment — this is normal, and they recover fully. The colony resumes normal activity within 2–3 days, and the varroa mite drop typically peaks within the first week.

Why Rotate With Other Treatments?

Using only one treatment type repeatedly allows varroa mites to develop resistance, which is exactly what’s already happened to some synthetic miticides in some countries. Rotating between miticides from different chemical classes prevents this and keeps your colonies effectively protected long-term. A balanced rotation includes:

  • Oxalic acid — Api-Bioxal Liquid (this product) or Powder
  • Amitraz strips — Apivar / Apitraz
  • Synthetic pyrethroids — Bayvarol® / Apistan®
  • Formic acid — Formic Pro (if available in your region)

Are There Legal Record-Keeping Requirements?

Yes. By purchasing and using Api-Bioxal, you agree to maintain treatment records for a minimum of 2 years, as required by APVMA Permit PER94609. Records must include:

  • Date of treatment
  • Location of hives treated
  • Total amount of product used
  • Names and addresses of persons performing the treatment — records must be available to APVMA or your state department on request

What Safety Precautions Should I Take?

Oxalic acid is genuinely effective — which means handling it carefully matters. Always:

  • Wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety glasses during dribble application
  • Avoid skin and eye contact — rinse immediately with water if accidental contact occurs
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after handling, before eating or drinking
  • Store in original sealed container in a cool, dry place — no refrigeration needed
  • Keep away from children, pets, and food/feed
  • Do NOT use simultaneously with other miticides
  • Maximum 2 treatments per year, with at least 5 days between applications. For poisoning concerns, call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

Who Is This Product Built For?

Api-Bioxal Liquid is the simplest, most accessible varroa treatment — ideal for hobbyists and small-scale beekeepers who want effective control without equipment investment. Backyard beekeepers especially love it with 1–5 hives wanting a no-fuss treatment, new beekeepers learning about varroa management for the first time, beekeepers without a vaporiser who prefer not to buy one, hobbyists running 8-frame hives or other small-scale setups, and urban beekeepers who appreciate a discreet, equipment-free treatment method.

IT JUST WORKS!
Size: 1-Pack (32 oz), Size: 1-Pack (32 oz)
I recently found a piece of wire stuck in the side wall of my Zero Turn mower's rear tire. The tire has less than a full season of use, so I was looking for an alternative to "FIX" my sidewall puncture instead of removing it and patching or replacing. After looking up several different products, I decided to try Multi Seal. After reading the directions, I removed the valve tool that was included with the bottle. It was a little confusing, but the tool is basically a "stopper" for the clear hose that's in the bottle. Once I removed the valve from the stem, I connected the clear hose to the stem and proceeded to squeeze the product into the tire. I was surprised as to how easily it flowed into the tire. It was much easier than other tire sealants I've used. Although, its recommended to use half of the bottle in a rear tire, I used significantly more. I wanted to make sure the sealant would get to the sidewall. When I was finished adding the product, I replaced the valve in the stem and inflated the tire to the recommended pressure. It was at this time I pulled the wire from the tire. I started the mower and drove it for a few minutes. When i stopped, the product had started to escape the tire through the puncture. In fact, I had another unknown puncture that showed signs of the Multi Seal product. After a few minutes, air was still escaping from the punctures so I ended up driving the mower for about 10-15 minutes. This seemed to do the trick. Over a week later and 1.5 hours of operation later, the tire is still holding air pressure. This product is the BEST tire sealant I have ever used. I will be adding it to all my non-highway tires that I own.

Works with effort
Size: 1-Gallon (128 oz)
I was skeptical about buying this. However, after installing the recommended ozs per tire, it seems to have fixed the two flats on my zero-turn lawnmower. I will continue to monitor the pressure, but it's held for four days at the time of this review. Caution. Even with a flat tire and no air, pumping the product into the tire builds backpressure, and the internal two-piece pump shaft blew apart on me; afterward, the hose connecting to the value stem blew off. In short, a lot of fluid was lost. Finally, the bottleneck of the pump collapsed when the bottle was only half empty. It's not as smooth an install as you are led to believe. It is a good concept, but the pump bottle is cheaply made and does not hold up well to deliver all the product to the tires. It fatigues after around 50 - 60 pumps, and you wind up struggling to get the job done.

It did work
Size: 1-Pack (32 oz)
Sealed a small nail hole in a front tractor tire. Better than taking to shop for inside patch or making the 3x bigger for a rope patch.

Fixed a Bead Sealing Issue
Size: 1-Gallon (128 oz)
For traction in snow, I recently installed new "agricultural" style lugged front tires on a Simplicity garden tractor from around 1980. The tractor looks like it's survived a war, evidently having had a hard life as a workhorse owned by a school district. The front rims are rusty, and I naively thought the beads of these thick tires would seal properly anyway. They didn't. The jug of sealant ships with a valve core removal tool. Removing and reinstalling the cores is a piece of cake if you've never done it. I pumped a generous amount of the product into each tire and then did a few fast laps in a grassy paddock. It's a Kohler 19HP twin and it's a bit of a rocket. 😎 One tire sealed, the other didn't, and there was still a faint hiss. I added more product to that side and repeated the process. It seemed to hold. The next day that side was flat again, so I added more sealant and this time it held. Based on this experience, I'd say that instead of strictly following what the instructions recommended as an amount per tire, keep adding product in increments until the tire holds air. It's good stuff and it works. Will the tire self-heal if I puncture it? I don't know yet. It saved me the headache of having to remount these small tires or install tubes.

Stop wasting your money on green slime or Fix-A-Flat or any of the other tire sealant
Size: 1-Gallon (128 oz)
Flat out is by far the best product on the market to fix flat tires and prevent flat tires. This will be the second gallon jug that I purchased that stuff on everything. all of my landscape equipment has it in every tire. And to paint and even better picture for you I have a scag mower that is 20 years old The tires are probably 18 years old ugly as could be and would not hold air until I put the flat out in it it has been sitting now for over a year and every tire still has air That's how good the stuff is. Don't just buy one gallon by two cuz it will get used
