The SonnetsOn the 50th anniversary of Ted Berrigan's and the 25th anniversary of Bernadette Mayer's, Bloof Books is thrilled to publish THE SONNETS by Sandra Simonds. As Simonds has written, "There's no consensus on how to do it. Does it have to have a traditional rhyme scheme? Does it need to be written in iambic pentameter? On the 50th anniversary of Ted Berrigan's and the 25th anniversary of Bernadette Mayer's, Bloof Books is thrilled to publish THE SONNETS by Sandra Simonds. As Simonds has written, "There's no consensus on how to do it. Does it have to have a traditional rhyme scheme? Does it need to be written in iambic pentameter? Does it have to be about unrequited love? Does it even need to be fourteen lines? Ask twenty poets these questions, and you'll get two-hundred answers. And simply calling a sonnet a sonnet doesn't really make it a sonnet." THE SONNETS is this poet's exploration of the tradition, as well her testing of the (probably apocryphal) remark made by William Carlos Williams that it's a "fascist form." As for the classic theme of love: "It's easy for me to fool myself into thinking that I'm in love so sometimes I get all tangled up in love triangles, squares and octagons," Simonds explains. "Maybe it's a poet's disease.... In real life relationships people are always vying for power but in the sonnet, it's the poet and the sonnet that are in a struggle to the death. The problem is that the poet is at a huge disadvantage because the sonnet has the history OF THE SONNET on its side and almost always wins." Each of the sonnets here indeed has fourteen lines (and each section fourteen sonnets). Some of the poems rhyme. Most do talk of love, as it burgeons and fades. But as always with Simonds's work, the reader should come to THE SONNETS expecting to be upended. Sandra Simonds is the author of two previous collections of poetry, Warsaw Bikini (Bloof Books, 2008) and Mother Was a Tragic Girl (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 2012). Her poems have appeared in The Best American Poetry 2014, the American Poetry Review, Fence, Poetry, and other journals.Binding Type: Paperback

Miniscule waste of money
This is half the size of a tennis ball. I am returning it because it is a waste of money to buy. Might work for a Chihuahua, but I have a Dutch shepherd. No way will this be a appropriate for a dog. It also lacks a squeaky sound. Cannot recommend.

Great quality and long lasting
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
My dog loves these, and I feel good giving them to her. They last a very long time. They don't have any odor whatsoever. She chews them aggressively, but they don't leave as much slobber or goo as some other chewables. They are pricey, but if you just bring them out for a special treat, they will last longer. I bring it out when we're having dinner, and I don't want her to bother us! When she gets it down to a nub, I stuff it inside one of her puzzle toys and she is still very interested in it because I guess to her it must really smell great even though I can't smell anything at all. So she will try to dig it out of the puzzle toy and spend lots of time doing that, so I feel like that gives some extra value.

My dog likes this brand
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This is the only brand of Himalayan chew that my dog likes. I’ve heard other brands come with an off smell but I’ve never noticed a bad smell with this one. This is the same version they sell at Whole Foods so I trust that the ingredients are good quality. My dog loves to chip away at this thing and it makes a huge mess but I deal with it to make him happy.

Best chew toy I’ve ordered
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
My dog usually destroys chew toys in 30mins or less he has been chewing on this toy non stop the past 4 hours. He hasn’t conquered it yet and that’s great for us as it allows us to get things accomplished while he’s occupied. I will definitely order another one after he eventually breaks this down

Great quality, dogs loved them
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I didn't know what my dogs would think of the Yak cheese but they loved it. I later tried another brand but it was splintering easily. This one kept a nice solid texture the whole time the dogs were enjoying it. Would definitely recommend.
