The Last Negroes at Harvard: The Class of 1963 and the 18 Young Men Who Changed Harvard ForeverThe untold story of the Harvard class of '63, whose Black students fought to create their own identities on the cusp between integration and affirmative action. The untold story of the Harvard class of '63, whose Black students fought to create their own identities on the cusp between integration and affirmative action.

In the fall of 1959, Harvard recruited an unprecedented eighteen "Negro" boys as an early form of affirmative action. Four years later they would graduate as African Americans. Some fifty years later, one of these trailblazing Harvard grads, Kent Garrett, would begin to reconnect with his classmates and explore their vastly different backgrounds, lives, and what their time at Harvard meant.

Garrett and his partner Jeanne Ellsworth recount how these eighteen youths broke new ground, with ramifications that extended far past the iconic Yard. By the time they were seniors, they would have demonstrated against national injustice and grappled with the racism of academia, had dinner with Malcolm X and fought alongside their African national classmates for the right to form a Black students' organization.

Part memoir, part group portrait, and part narrative history of the intersection between the civil rights movement and higher education, this is the remarkable story of brilliant, singular boys whose identities were changed at and by Harvard, and who, in turn, changed Harvard.

Extremely poor quality. Too flexible!
Size: 1000 Teaspoons
Poor quality, flimsy, barely strong enough to stir my coffee. Not strong enough to use for eating even semi-solid food. Too much flex!

Strong and Durable, Great for Large Garbage Cans
Scent: Unscented, Size: 50 Count (Pack of 1)
I’ve got a large garbage can for a big family, and in the past, every other brand of bag I tried would always slip down when filling it, turning trash day into a messy nightmare. I finally decided to look for a heavy-duty, extra-large bag and found these 30-gallon Glad bags—and I’m glad I did. I even tested three different brands to see which one I liked best, and these came out on top by far. They’re rip-resistant, strong, and extra roomy, making them perfect for a busy household. Even if they’re a little more expensive than other bags, the durability and reliability make them totally worth the extra cost. No more wrestling with sagging trash bags!

Been Using These for Years
Scent: Unscented, Size: 50 Count (Pack of 1)
I have been using these Glad 30 gallon ForceFlex trash bags for years and they never disappoint. The black color looks clean, they are thick and strong, and the unscented option is perfect if you do not want artificial smells. They hold up well with heavy trash, resist leaks, and the drawstrings make them easy to tie and carry. Great quality and worth the price.
