LONGLISTED FOR THE PORCHLIGHT BUSINESS BOOK AWARD
We take it for granted that good neighborhoods—with good schools and good housing—are only accessible to the wealthy. But in America, this wasn’t always the case.
Though for most of world history, your prospects were tied to where you were born, Americans came up with a revolutionary idea: If you didn’t like your lot in life, you could find a better location and reinvent yourself there. Americans moved to new places with unprecedented frequency, and, for two hundred years, that remarkable mobility was the linchpin of American economic and social opportunity.
In this illuminating debut, Yoni Appelbaum, historian and journalist for The Atlantic, shows us that this idea has been under attack since reformers first developed zoning laws to ghettoize Chinese Americans in nineteenth-century Modesto, California. The century of legal segregation that ensued—from the zoning laws enacted to force Jewish workers back into New York’s Lower East Side to the private-sector discrimination and racist public policy that trapped Black families in Flint, Michigan to Jane Jacobs’ efforts to protect her vision of the West Village—has raised housing prices, deepened political divides, emboldened bigots, and trapped generations of people in poverty. Appelbaum shows us that these problems have a common explanation: people can’t move as readily as they used to. They are, in a word, stuck.
Cutting through more than a century of mythmaking, Stuck tells a vivid, surprising story of the people and ideas that caused our economic and social sclerosis and lays out common-sense ways to get Americans moving again.

Great travel jewelry case
Color: Black
Great colors. Good size. Easy to pack and carry. Fits a good amount of jewelry. It’s decent quality. I know there is better out there but for the value it’s great. It snaps close and I haven’t had mine accidentally come open at all. The inside is soft. My necklaces did get a little tangled inside but not too bad. I could have put them in there better. Very nice though.

Store it all!
Color: Pink
This is a compact, light weight, efficient, and sturdy/convenient way to securely store jewelry. The small compact case allows jewelry from earrings to necklaces to bracelets and rings to be all together without being tangled and/or on top of each other. I have more earrings than rings so I used the ring area to store the rest of my earrings. The tight clasp allows the lid to be fasten snuggly to the body of the case. The price was right considering what other stores were charging. I chose the pink case which is a very soft pink, as like the case, but there are other colors to choose from. The case is mobile and would stand strong in a carry on case or bag. I highly recommend this item if you are looking to organize and have your jewelry neatly and safely all in one place!

Cute and super convenient for travel
Color: Black
Really happy with this jewelry box overall. It’s compact, lightweight, and perfect for travel. The compartments are well designed for rings, earrings, and even long bracelets, which fit really nicely.
The only downside for me is the necklace section. When using multiple necklaces, they can get tangled, so it’s not the most practical part of the case. Other than that, it’s a great product for the price and looks very cute

Nice gift!
Color: Black
I got this as a gift for a coworker and it was cute compact and of good quality. I love the earring compartment for her because she always wears earrings and she travels, I figured it would be a great thing for her to have.
