Maa Durga - also known as the invincible means the most powerful and merciful goddess in Hindu religion. Worshipped with great dedication by devotees throughout the globe. Durga is also known as Aadishakti and Devi. She is the goddess praised by devtas and devils both. She is the symbol of motherhood, love, compassion, strength and protection.

The very beautiful deity of Maa Durga represents her sitting on a lion-her vehicle, elegantly dressed up in a red saree. She wears a precious crown and is loaded with treasured jewelry all over. The majestic eight hands speaks of her great strength and power possessed by her. Each of the eight hands carries a weapon to kill the demons. She often appears in action on lion in most of the images, icons or idols killing the demon Mahishasura with buffalo. Maa Durga though in action does not imparts violence or hatred but love, care and compassion for the ones dependent on her.

There are numerous stories spread among the masses about the arrival of Durga which revolves around her role of eradicating evil from earth. One of the most popular reasons for her existence is combat against the devil Mahishasura. It is believed that Durga was created by Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh - the trinity to conquer the demon Mahishasura.

Maa Durga is one of the widely worshipped goddesses in Hindu religion with endless numbers of faithful and devoted followers. Especially the festive season of Navratri marks the importance of nine forms of Durga with full-fledged celebration of 9 days. The nine forms are namely- Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Mahakali. The festival is celebrated with huge zeal and zest throughout India, especially in West Bengal. Huge Durga Pandals are set up everywhere in the city which are decked up with heavy decorations. Not only devotees but also common man visit these pandals with their families to admire the beauty of the festival.

Navratri celebration is followed by Dussehra which falls immediately after the ninth day. It is believed that the demon Mahishasura was killed on the tenth day just after Navratri.

Durga pooja is the most important part of Hindu religion which is practiced by almost every individual. People keep 2 to 9 days fasting along with other rituals, like reciting of Durga Chalisa, Durga Shavsati path, aarti and offering prasadam at last.

Not a Users Guide
Format: Paperback
Although many readers may find this book useful, it describes a particular approach to Powerpoint. It is not anything like a comprehensive users guide.

Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.

Student Review
This book is an excellent introduction to the basic principles of insurance. We used this text as a supplement in our Intro to Act. Sci. class. It is very readable, easy to understand. Minimal mathematics required, some basic calculus concepts used, but only briefly. Don't let it's small size fool ya, it has plenty of information in there.
