Directions & Precautions
Avoid in people diagnosed with Phenylketonuria (PKU), a genetic disorder which affects the enzyme needed to breakdown phenylalanine. When a build up of phenylalanine occurs in the blood it becomes toxic to the brain. PKU screening is a routine test for newborn babies. Phenylketonuria is estimated to affect 1:15,000 individuals.
Avoid in migraine sufferers taking MAOI’s – the combination of phenylalanine plus tyrosine produces tyramine which can lead to a migraine crisis in people on MAOI medication. Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of studies during these times. Considered tolerated at the level recommended. if you are taking MAOI’s or antidepressant medication, talk to your health professional before taking this product.
Phenylketonurics This product contains phenylalanine. MAOI’s Contraindicated due to the phenylalanine and tyrosine content. Phenylalanine, tyrosine and MAOI’s may affect normal blood pressure.
