Set at the centre is a striking rectangular jasper stone, displaying a rich deep red hue; a beautiful setting for a carving. Finely engraved into the surface is a detailed scene that appears to depict an ancient vessel with four oarsmen, evoking imagery of classical antiquity and maritime history. With even the gentle waves being depicted, this ring has a rich feeling to it. 

The stone is mounted within a classic 14 carat gold setting, allowing the intaglio to take full focus while offering a timeless and wearable design. The rich gold and warm red a match made in heaven!

The ring is hallmarked for 1983, however, based on the style of both the carving and mount, we strongly believe this to be an earlier piece that has been re-hallmarked at a later date. Most likely due to the loss of original hallmarks during historic resizing or restoration, not an uncommon occurrence. 

With its unusual subject matter, rich colour, and layered history, this is a distinctive ring. Perfect for collectors of intaglios or those drawn to classical and maritime themes.

MEASUREMENTS: Finger size M (UK/AU) 6 (US)

WEIGHT: 3.2 grams approx.

HALLMARKING: hallmarked 14 carat gold 

CONDITION: The ring is in lovely vintage condition with the fine patina of wear to the gold and jasper stone. There is a historical makers stamp 'BB' which sent fine lines/cracks.
