Les Partelaines 2019 is an, single-parcel cuvée chosen as the standout of the 2019 harvest. Each year Roland Champion selects a different plot for a limited-edition release; in 2019, the estate chose Les Partelaines, a historic terroir of the domaine in the Côte des Blancs.
Vinified separately in 228-liter oak barrels and made without dosage, the wine captures the purest expression of terroir, grape and vintage. Only 1,680 bottles were produced. After 10 months on fine lees in barrel, the wine was bottled in July 2020 and aged 4 years on the lees before release. Malolactic fermentation is encouraged, and clarification is natural with no fining or filtration. After disgorgement, the wine rests a further six months in the cellar.
Vintage character:
2019 brought climatic extremes, a mild winter, spring frost, summer heat and drought yet maturation ended under ideal conditions with cool nights preserving acidity. The result is a Chardonnay of precision, freshness and elegance.
Tasting profile:
On the nose, refined notes of white chocolate, tonka bean and chalky minerality. The palate is pure and finely textured, showing bright citrus, lively tension and a long saline finish that reflects the limestone soils of Chouilly.
Excellent as an aperitif, and a strong match for white fish, shellfish or aged cheeses.
