Full Kantha Dohar Quilt - Emerald Waters / Iris Blue | One of a Kind
Worked entirely by hand, this quilt is stitched through layers using rows of running stitch drawn across the full surface - the defining mark of the kantha tradition. The front is an upcycled underprint in emerald waters - a deep forest green ground printed with a small-scale repeating bubble and pebble motif in tonal greens and olive, shifting across the surface from deep moss to luminous yellow-green where the layers of woodblock printing thin and overlap. A narrow border strip of botanical floral print in teal, cream, dusty pink and ochre runs the full length of each edge. The result of 8 to 12 rounds of hand printing across a month of production, no two areas land the same way twice; this piece is entirely unrepeatable. Edition of one. The edges are finished with a fine hand blanket stitch - small, precise, and quietly present.
The reverse is a wide-width iris blue linen-cotton blend - cool, still, and grounding - with the kantha running stitch visible, tracing the same quiet rhythm across the cloth.
Ethically handcrafted in India. Designed in Aotearoa. Dry clean only.
