An innovation revolutionising pastel- unlike most fixatives which sit on the surface of a pastel work, the Clairefontaine Revolution Freezer soaks into pigment (soft pastel, charcoal, graphite pencil, sanguine or chalk), drying rapidly and locking it onto a Pastelmat surface. When properly applied, it can be effective enough to allow the artwork to be rolled and transported without smudging. The pigment is frozen, without altering or saturating the surface but remains porous to receive other layers, which a normal fixative does not allow.
As it uses a spray pump rather than an aerosol, it significantly reduces the risks of harmful chemical exposure, however the ethanol solvent makes this product Dangerous Goods.
